Description

Wellington Doubles Women's Open Tournament 2025

All female players are welcomed to this open tournament which will take place on 18th and 19th of October 2025.

The entry is by pairs of any age with a cost of $100 per pair and at least 2 games guaranteed (consolation bracket). Players are required to register and pay the inscription online before Tuesday 14th October.

Registration for this category will be limited to 16 pairs and they will have to report their assistance at the counter before the competition starts.

Please, read the rules below carefully to understand the tournament format and the rules.

Winners and runner-ups will be awarded with prizes.

Rules

1) General Rules

  • All matches follow the official International Padel Federation (FIP) rules unless otherwise stated.
  • Players must be at the club 20 minutes before their scheduled match time. Late arrivals may result in disqualification.
  • All matches times and courts are illustrative and might be subject to change. Order of play will prevail.
  • Player will have only a 5-minute warm up before each game starts.
  • Appropriate sports attire must be worn.

 

2) Tournament Format

  • Matches are played in a knockout format.
  • Losers in the first round (round of 16) will enter into the consolation bracket.
  • All matches will be played to 2 sets with tie-break at 6-6 (first to 7 points, win by 2).
  • If after two sets the score is 1-1, a super tie-break will be played (first to 10 points, win by 1).

 

3) Scoring System

  • Standard padel scoring applies: 15, 30, 40, deuce, golden point.
  • Golden Point Rule (No-Advantage): the receiving team chooses which side receives the serve at deuce.

 

4) Serving Rules

  • The serve must be underhand and bounce behind the service line before being hit.
  • The ball must be struck below waist level and must bounce in the diagonal service box.
  • Two serve attempts are allowed per point.

 

5) Code of Conduct

  • Unsportsmanlike behavior (racquet abuse, verbal abuse, aggressive behavior) may result in penalties or disqualification.
  • Disputes will be resolved by the tournament referee, whose decision is final, but in all occasions the dispute will result in the point being replayed.

 

6) Walkovers & Withdrawals

  • If a team fails to show up within 10 minutes of the scheduled time, it will be a walkover (forfeit).
  • If a team withdraws mid-match due to injury, the opponent advances.
